1,500 STUDENTS EDUCATED ON INTERNET SAFETY

A total of 1,500 students in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City participated in a project on educating Internet safety in schools, carried out by the Research Center for Family Health & Community Development (CEFACOM) in coordination with IBM Vietnam. The project aims to provide basic knowledge about seeking information on the Internet and give students skills to protect themselves in case of being subjected to dangers when online, and basic techniques to use Internet effectively. According to the Victoria – Hoang Dieu school managing board where the project is being carried out, the project brings practical skills to students. Most of students at the school say that the knowledge and skills on Internet safety are useful. Thanks to the project, teachers also have an opportunity to understand more about students’ Internet preferences. As scheduled, in September, IBM will send an international volunteer delegation to the central city of Da Nang to present computers and software worth 200,000 USD to kindergartens nationwide.
